Two of Jesse's first surgeries were for bilateral strabismus (crossed eyes) and zonular cataracts. Zonular cataracts are not the kind older people get, they are the kind with which some special children are born, as was our Jesse. (Though this is very rare, even with Floating Harbor children.) Our wise doctor chose not to implant lenses at that time, and Jesse has been more than happy with his thick bi-focals ever since the surgery. Every so often we make a trip to the optician and get a new prescription for his glasses, and every time we do I am reminded of how well he is doing. I am so thankful that all he really needs, other than some love and care, is a new pair of glasses.
